Mustang Monthly - School Daze - Boss Track Attack

Mustang Monthly calls Ford's Boss Track Attack program a great perk for '12-'13 Boss 302 owners.

When Mustang Monthly comes to Tooele, Utah and Miller Motorsports Park you know the track is going hot. This November, Donald Farr joined a dozen 2012 Boss 302 owners — plus one wife and a son to evaluate the capabilities of Ford's Boss 302 Mustang and the Boss Track Attack program.

Each Track Attack program kicks off the night before with a welcoming dinner at the Larry H. Miller Total Performance Museum. For Ford fans, especially of the Shelby persuasion, the museum is a must-see, even without the driving school. Larry Miller was a die-hard Shelby fan, and after achieving business success (among them, ownership of the Utah Jazz professional basketball team), he started collecting Shelby American milestone cars, including the first competition Cobra, Ken Miles' Le Mans GT40, and Dan Gurney's Daytona Coupe that won Le Mans in 1964. There's also a nice collection of early Shelby Mustangs and memorabilia to go along with all of it, Farr describes the welcome reception dinner.

After previewing the welcome receiption, the article goes into great deatail about all aspects of the program starting with the classroom session and Boss assignments and progressing to the on-track excercises and instructor ride-alongs.

If you are 'sitting on the fence' about coming out for a Boss Track Attack, this is one article you do not want to miss. Click here to read more on the Mustang Monthly website.

2012 Boss Track Attack schedule announced

For Immediate Release

The Ford Racing High Performance Driving School, based at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, has announced the 2012 Boss Track Attack program.

The Boss Track Attack, a cooperative program between Ford Racing and the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School, allows owners of the new Mustang Boss® 302 to attend a one-day driving school to learn the capabilities of their cars and sharpen their driving skills. This is an unprecedented program for Ford, and the initial sessions held in 2011 were enthusiastically received by Boss® 302 owners, with the program being booked at 100% capacity.

"The Boss Track Attack has been a great addition to our curriculum at the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School," said Dan McKeever, Director of Track Operations and Performance Schools at Miller Motorsports Park. "Ford Racing has been a great partner for us, and we were honored to have been chosen to host this program. It fits in perfectly with our existing schools, and we're looking forward to continuing the program in 2012."

Detailed Review: 5.0 Mustang And Super Ford Magazine Gets it done

The September, 2012 issue of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords piled on the praise in their recent visit to the Boss Track Attack program at Miller Motorsports Park.

Author Steve Turner began with this lead: After sneaking through the esses of Agony and Ecstasy, it’s time to squeeze on the power. The note of the quad exhaust swells from a growl to a buzzsaw as the RoadRunner sows its oats in Third gear. A tap on the brakes at the First Attitude and then the speed builds to triple digits before it’s time to throw out the anchor at the Tooele turn and get back on the power.

Turner puts the entire Track Attack program under a microscope. The article is detailed, to the point, and features input from Mickey Matus, marketing manager for Ford Racing who said, The Boss 302 is a legendary nameplate, and our latest version is such a tremendous fun-to-drive car that we wanted to ensure this exclusive group of owners learn all they could about it, and experience its capabilities in the fun, controlled environment that Miller Motorsports Park can provide.

Turner even takes a look at the Boss Track Attack second day option, adding, Approximately half of the Boss Track Attack students opt to pay the extra tariff to stick around and continue their on-track education in the Ford Racing High Performance Driving School FR500s. Longtime 5.0&SF readers know that this wasn’t my first rodeo at MMP. Offered another chance in the FR500, I jumped at it.
